Planning Department
The Planning Department is under the umbrella of the Department of Community Development and is specifically authorized by the Municipal Planning Code to operate in conjunction with, or in place of, the Planning Commission. South Middleton Township has both a Planning Department and a Planning Commission.
Subdivision and Land Development plans are processed and reviewed through the Planning Department. Each plan is examined in detail to ensure that the plan complies with the Township Ordinances regarding Zoning and Subdivision & Land Development. Where appropriate, department staff ensures that approvals from other State, County, and local agencies are obtained by applicants before plans receive final approval. All Subdivision

Submission of Subdivision and Land Development Plans
Plans and application must be submitted to the Township by 4:00 p.m. on the 25th day of each month to be considered at the upcoming Planning Commission meeting.
• A PDF file of the plan and supporting documentation must be emailed to nkaczor@smiddleton.com. If the plans cannot be submitted by email, a flash drive or an online file hosting service should be used instead.
• A hard copy of the application, all supporting documentation, and ten (10) copies of the plan set should be submitted to the Township along with the application fee and escrow fee.
• Any revised plans should be emailed to nkaczor@smiddleton.com
and ten (10) hard copies submitted to the Township 14 days prior to the next Planning Commission meeting.
The Planning Department also updates the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance and drafts those revisions for approval by the Board of Supervisors.
