Shelly previously taught in the Northeastern School District in York County. She has a B.S. in Teaching K-8, an M.Ed in Teaching and Curriculum, and a D. Ed from Penn State University. She owns and manages properties in Cape May, New Jersey.  She is an active board member for Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties, and Cumberland County Commission for Women. 

Shelly is married to her husband Louis J. Capozzi, Attorney at Law. They have been married for 21 years and have three children.
